Background:

The Board of Directors is responsible for the effective governance of Banks, Financial Institutions (FIs) and NBFCs. The role of directors is under increasing scrutiny, domestically and internationally, particularly in the event of any disruption or failure in the financial sector. Board members need to have an independent and objective perspective, understanding fully their roles & responsibilities, accommodating divergent views and working effectively as a team.  It is the responsibility of the Board to ensure that the business strategies of the organization are properly aligned with the processes & controls, with effective risk management practices and meeting requisite reporting requirements. In today’s fast changing financial landscape, board members should be abreast of evolving advanced technologies, emerging risks including cyber risk, regulatory and new developments in the sector. 

Objective:

As the Board of Directors are responsible for the Governance and compliance functions, this program aims to sensitize the Directors on various issues of current importance and facilitate sound understanding of the legal and regulatory aspects of corporate governance. It will offer a platform for peer level discussion and an opportunity to listen to & interact with the regulator.
